Session Description:

This presentation will focus on a variety of methods in making charitable contributions from the simplest as a cash gift to the more complex of Charitable Lead and Remainder Trusts. 

 

We will review the motivation of donors in making gifts and what method of making the gift best suits each donor’s motivation and how that method can be the most tax efficient.

Bob's practice is mostly concentrated in the areas of estate and wealth planning, tax planning, and employment benefits. He represents a large number of medical practices and works in the taxation, estate planning, retirement planning and business planning areas. In addition, he works on a number of health care-related matters, has structured numerous physician practice mergers, and has been involved in designing compensation systems for many of these practices.

 

Consistent with his ability to juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time, Bob is involved in a wide variety of management and committee functions at Katz Teller. He is a long-time member of the firm’s compensation committee, chairs the firm’s retirement plan committee, and serves on the finance and benefits committees.

Michele Carey, CAP®

Michele is the Director of Professional Advisor Relations at Greater Cincinnati Foundation, where she serves as a philanthropic resource for professional advisors to help clients leverage their giving during and after their lifetimes. Michele’s career began 25 year ago at The Chicago Community Trust, where she first learned the valuable role a community foundation plays in creating a vibrant region.

 

Michele is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®), a designation she earned from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of The American College, Pennsylvania. The Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy curriculum equips advisors with the expertise and tools to engage clients in meaningful conversations about charitable giving and to implement tax saving strategies for maximum impact. Michele currently serves as a moderator for the Greater Cincinnati Foundation CAP Study Group, which is a charitable giving leadership program that convenes a cohort of advisors from across professional disciplines to study charitable best practices while preparing for the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy.
