About the Program
Going through a divorce or separation is an arduous process.  Further, divorce is something that happens to about 50% of our clients (a much higher number than the estate tax!).  Helping our clients navigate this process, and helping them connect to the right resources, is an invaluable service that we can provide to our clients.  Besides the emotional impact there is an obvious financial impact.  Being a trusted advisor to your clients allows you to help your clients navigate this process.  Please join the Cincinnati Estate Planning Council on February 22nd for a panel discussion on the various financial implications and considerations of divorce and legal separation from presenters from four disciplines:  financial planning, accounting, estate planning, and insurance.
The presenters include:
  • Bob Carroll, CPA, CFP®, CDFA™Managing Director of the Carnegie Investment Council Cincinnati Office, will present on financial planning issues that need to be addressed during the divorce or separation process.
  • Mark Gaudet, CPA, CFP®Shareholder at Clark Schaefer Hackett, will address some of the tax issues to consider, including the treatment of alimony payments under the new tax law.
  • Julie Tarvina partner at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, will talk about legal considerations and trusts that can be used before and after the divorce or separation.
  • Jon Dannemiller, ChFC®, CLU®, AEP®, Senior Insurance Planning Specialist at Time Financial, will speak to the insurance issues that need to be addressed.
